Costume Party

Some of you were asking about my Halloween costume this year. I kept my costume to a minimum of one this year due to time constraints. I have been known to were up to 4 costumes a season. Honestly, I didn't think my costume this year would be that cool, but it came together quit nicely. I even won a prize in the costume contest! I decided to be a Mexican sugar skull from the Day of The Dead. I've always been fascinated with Day of the Dead customs and traditions. Sugar skulls are such an amazing piece of unique art. I hope I did them some justice. What do you think?

I also decided to look back on some of my previous costumes. I'm usually working on a tight budget so I've become pretty crafty when it comes to putting a homemade costume together. When I was about ten years old, I decided to hand stitch my own Catwoman costume a la Michelle Pfeiffer in BATMAN RETURNS. Well, let's just say it wasn't movie quality but it was a great try. I once went as Cleopatra for Halloween and a few years later, I made a mummy costume out of it. I also put together a slutty devil costume using things I had in my closet. My friend John was the master of last minute costumes. He effortlessly threw together Hunter S. Thompson, Andy Warhol, and Anderson Cooper. One of my favorites was the Bride of Frankenstein; I had the best beehive! Then there was my Wednesday Addams costume which took almost no effort. The chola was a bit too realistic for my own good. Here's a few of my old costumes (and some of Spike's):

I also thought I would share some of my favorite costumes of all time:

Racist costume
Racist costumes are uncomfortable because you never know if it's OK to laugh. Now when it's a racist children's costume, it's definitely OK to laugh.

I love pugs and I love TEEN WOLF.

It's not fair that Heidi Klum looks amazing even without skin!

The craftsmanship alone is incredible. Also, getting a pooch to keep that costume on long enough to take pics is pretty awesome too. Star Wars fans will go to any length to display their fandom. I applaud their creativity!

I am so sad that Halloween is over! I guess I better start thinking of a costume for next year. One day I will dress up as Princess Leia (NOT the slave costume). My all time dream costume would be Jackie Kennedy in the bloody pink Chanel suit. I'll do it one day. Maybe I'll be a juggalo next year?
